The WCCB Endowment

The Washtenaw Community Concert Band Endowment Fund was established in 2022 through a generous donation by Rebecca Horvath. The purpose of her gift is to provide stable support for the band’s ongoing operations, allowing us to provide music to our audiences and enrich the musical environment of the Washtenaw County area now and into the future.

Becky Horvath

Rebecca Horvath
December 19, 1934–October 17, 2022

Becky was an active benefactor of the musical arts in Washtenaw County. Having earned a degree in music education from the University of Michigan in 1956, Becky was a staunch supporter of the U of M School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, as well as the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the Dixboro United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, occasionally directing it. As a longstanding member of the WCCB, she played oboe and was the double reed section leader. She served on the WCCB board of directors and was a financial supporter of the band, including sponsoring concert performances for many years.

Becky’s many accomplishments did not stop at music. In 1980 she graduated from the University of Michigan School of Education with a PhD in child psychology and taught psychology at Henry Ford Community College for eighteen years until her retirement in 1998. Becky was an excellent cook who shared her culinary skills by hosting many neighbors and friends for festive dinners and entertained by playing her oboe at informal Christmas parties with other WCCB band members.

Make a lasting contribution

The WCCB relies on the donations of our supporters to meet our ongoing expenses. If you would like to join with the spirit of Becky’s generosity and make an additional contribution to the endowment, you too can make an investment in the longevity and sustainability of the WCCB. This endowment fund is managed by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (AAACF). The link above will take you to the contribution page on the AAACF website, where you can make your gift.
